During the last 24 hours, widespread moderate to heavy rains have occurred over many parts of Madhya Pradesh. Pachmarhi received 25 mm of rains, Hoshangabad 11 mm, Seoni 38 mm, Damoh 6 mm, Indore 8 mm, Ratlam 5 mm and Guna received 9 mm.

Particularly the Central and Eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh have received heavy rains in comparison to other districts.

At present, a Depression is persistent over Gujarat. This weather system will now move in Northeast direction. Therefore, by tomorrow i.e. from October 1, we expect rain activities to increase once again over western parts of Madhya Pradesh.

Now, we expect good rains to continue over eastern parts of the state particularly Sidhi, Satna, Rewa, Umaria, Damoh, Jabalpur, Katni and Mandla. Rain intensity will be comparatively less over Dhar, Ujjain, Ratlam, Bhopal, Shajapur, Khargone and Khandwa. For the next two to three days, there will be fairly widespread rain and thundershower activities over Madhya Pradesh. Flood like situation and waterlogging will once again become severe.

No significant relief is being forecast over Madhya Pradesh for at least next three days. From October 3 and 4, the rain intensity will once again increase over the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh.

In a nutshell, rains are likely to continue with varied intensity over Madhya Pradesh until October 4. Soyabean and many other crops are already damaged in the state due to excessive rains. Now, as the crops are ready for harvesting, therefore, these rains will play a major spoilsport.

This year extremely heavy and continuous rains have been witnessed by Madhya Pradesh. We do not expect Monsoon to make a retreat over Madhya Pradesh until the second week of October.
