Rains to intensify along Coastal Karnataka, Konkan Goa, Kerala soon

West Coast is one of the rainiest pockets in the country during the Southwest Monsoons season. In fact, some parts even see four-digit rains in just about a month. This Monsoon season also, rains have been on the higher side for many cities of Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka as well as Kerala.

Now, the off-shore trough has become weak and rains have reduced in some areas. However, moderate to heavy rains still do continue over many parts and good rainfall has been observed during the last 24 hours as well.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Thane recorded 58 mm of rains, Karwar 45 mm, Vengurla 38 mm, Goa 37 mm, Alibagh 36 mm, Ratnagiri 25 mm, Harnai 23 mm, Mangaluru 22 mm, Mumbai 20 mm, and Alappuzha 18 mm.

Now, during the next 24 hours, light to moderate rains are expected to continue over Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala. However, July 3 onward, rainfall intensity will witness an increase over the entire West Coast due to which rains will become quite heavy over these areas due to the activation of the West Coast.

In fact, three-digit rains in some parts also cannot be ruled out after July 3. Mumbai rains will also pick up pace during this time.
