South and Central parts of Kerala have been witnessing good rains since last few days. Whereas several places in northern districts of the state have been receiving comparatively lesser intensity of rain and thundershowers. Similar was the last 24 hours for the state when a few places over South Kerala manage to record light to moderate showers.
Within the span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Kottayam recorded rainfall to the tune of 32 mm, followed by Alappuzha at 22 mm, Punalur 15.5 mm, Kochi 6 mm and Thiruvananthapuram 2 mm.
The reason for such weather activities can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is seen over the southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep and adjoining areas.

Due to the effect of this prevailing weather system, light to moderate rain and thundershower are expected to lash several places in Kerala particularly, the southern districts of the state during the next two days.
During this period, the intensity of these rains is further likely to increase significantly and thus, moderate spells with isolated heavy spells are anticipated to lash districts such as Alappuzha, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram during the similar time frame.
On the other hand, northern districts of Kerala such as Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, and Kozhikode will receive comparatively lesser intensity of rain and thundershowers.
