Rains to increase over Northwest India

July 17, 2023 5:45 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The plains of North India saw some intense rainfall activities a few days ago. Thereafter, rainfall activities saw a reduction and only isolated showers were being seen. However, rains are picking up pace once again and intense showers are coming up.

These rains can be attributed to Monsoon trough being in close proximity and oscillating north of its normal position. A Western Disturbance is also there over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas which is pulling the Monsoon trough. Along with this, the Low Pressure Area is also over Chhattisgarh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh. It will move towards the West Madhya Pradesh region.

The combined effect of these systems will result in rainfall over Northwest India. Thus, the states of Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan and Delhi may see some intense rains tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
