Rains to increase over Andhra Pradesh, Odisha soon

Both the states of Andhra Pradesh as well as Odisha have been witnessing good Monsoon showers during the last few days. In fact, Monsoon rains have been decent enough for both the coastal states. The regular occurrence of rainfall over these areas can be attributed to the frequent development of weather systems over the Bay of Bengal region.

During the last 24 hours as well, light showers with a few moderate spells have made an appearance over both the aforementioned states. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Ongole recorded 10 mm of rain, Dehnakanal 3 mm, Paradip 5.4 mm, Titlagarh 0.8 mm, Machilipatnam 1.4 mm, and Visakhapatnam 0.9 mm.

These rains have been attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation which is over Coastal Andhra Pradesh region.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, during the next 24 hours, rainfall activity will remain subdued over both these states. Thereafter, there is an increase in rainfall activity in the offing due to the development of a fresh weather system.

A cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over Jharkhand and adjoining areas. With this, rainfall activity is expected to witness an increase during the next few days. Both Coastal Andhra Pradesh as well as adjoining Odisha will witness moderate to heavy showers. However, intensity of rains will be on the lower side over North Coastal Odisha.

These rains are expected to continue until August 27.
