At this time, North Interior Karnataka is rain deficient by 22%, whereas Coastal and South Interior Karnataka have recorded normal rains mounting up to 6% and 10%, respectively.

During the past 24 hours, Agumbe observed 50 mm of rains, followed by Madikeri 28 mm, Hassan 16 mm, Karwar 13 mm, Honavar 12 mm, Bengaluru 8 mm and Mangaluru 7 mm. Thereby, light to moderate with isolated heavy spells were seen over the state.

Forthwith, we expect the rainfall to increase over the coastal districts of Karnataka during the next 24 hours with which cities like Karwar, Mangaluru, and Kodagu would witness the weather events.  Thereafter, there are chances that the intensity of rain would subside once again over the region.

At the same time, interior parts of the state, particularly North Interior Karnataka like Dharwad, Gadag and Bagalkot are expected to see scattered rain and thundershowers amidst the next 24 hours.

These rains would be contributed to the well-marked low-pressure area over Odisha and adjoining area, which after the interval of 24 hours, will move further west and thus gradually go enfeeble. Even more, the Monsoon surge will turn weak along the West Coast.

As reported by weathermen, we do not expect much enhancement in the rain deficiency of North Interior Karnataka; however rain census of Coastal Karnataka may recuperate marginally.
