Rains to drench parts of East and North Uttar Pradesh for next 48 hours, to benefit Rabi crops

February is all set to end on a rainy note for parts of Uttar Pradesh. During the last 24 hours, northern parts of the state have received light rains and thundershowers at isolated pockets. Meanwhile, rest parts have remained dry, but rains belt is now set to expand and cover more parts.

As predicted by Skymet Weather, presence of several weather systems has made the weather conditions conducive for rains and thundershowers over north as well as eastern parts of the state.

Two cyclonic circulations are marked over North Uttar Pradesh and South Uttar Pradesh, respectively. Simultaneously, a Western Disturbance is moving across Jammu and Kashmir and an anti-cyclone is seen over Bay of Bengal. In association with all these systems, a confluence zone has developed over eastern parts of the country.

Sky conditions have already been cloudy to partly cloudy. This would be very soon followed by scattered light rains over eastern and northern parts of the state. The spread and intensity would be more over eastern parts as compared to northern areas. Places like Bareilly, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, and Bahraich will observe rainfall activity.

However, west and southwest Uttar Pradesh will remain mostly dry.

These rains and thundershowers are likely to drench the state for next 48 hours, clearing up thereafter. In wake of these rains, days would be comfortable, while nights would be very cool as temperatures would decrease.

Also, these upcoming rains would be very beneficial for Rabi crops such as wheat, mustard, sugarcane etc.
