Delhiites woke up to an another pleasant morning, with rain bearing clouds engulfing the city. According to Skymet Weather, we can expect another spell of rain and thundershowers that could begin over the capital anytime now.
In the above image, the green and blue patches indicate thundercloud development over these Delhi-NCR region around 7:15 am.
Palam Observatory had already reported some thundershowers around 6:30 am in the morning. Weather models are showing that the clouds are travelling from west to east, thus possibly western parts of the Delhi are witnessing some rains at present.
According to meteorologists, weather conditions were conducive for some rain activity since last night. Sky has been cloudy since Wednesday evening and convective clouds had formed over the Delhi during early Thursday morning.
The rain activity is likely to continue for at least next two hours, clearing away thereafter. We can expect another round of rains during later part of the day.
The rain activity can be attributed to the east-west trough extending along the Indo-Gangetic plains with two cyclonic circulations embedded on it. The trough is seen running in very close proximity to Delhi and have kept the weather over the city pleasant for last few days.
These pre-Monsoon showers have picked up pace as Monsoon is seen approaching the capital city. The eagerly-awaited Monsoon is likely to strike Delhi-NCR around its scheduled onset date of June 29, with error margin of two days.
The Southwest Monsoon has already covered most parts of the neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh and northern hilly states.
