In the last 24 hours, many parts of Andhra Pradesh has seen light to moderate rains that mainly occurred after a long prevailed dry spell. Though a few districts like Tirupathi have observed few good spots of rain since May began while other remained parched.
However, rains are expected to lash Andhra Pradesh almost any time now. As reiterated by Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from central Uttar Pradesh across Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha region in Maharashtra and Telangana towards Interior Karnataka. Moreover, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are also incurring moisture over coastal Andhra Pradesh
On account of both these weather systems rain, and thundershowers are expected to occur during the late afternoon or evening hours over Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Telangana. However, the intensity of these showers will be more over the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. While a few places in Rayalaseema may also witness some light rains.
In fact, rain and thunderstorm with moderate gusty winds may occur at some parts over East Godavari, Srikakulam, Vishakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, West Godavari, Guntur and Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh in some time now.
As per Skymet Weather, these pre-Monsoon showers are likely to occur on May 9 and may continue until May 10. Though the intensity of rains will be more on May 9 as compared with that on May 10.
The maximum temperatures in south coastal Andhra Pradesh have stayed 3-5 degrees below normal while it remained near normal in the interior regions of the state. Though after this rainy episode, the maximums may rise marginally but the overall temperature profile will not be affected much and will continue to remain near normal.
