Rains to continue over Vidarbha, Chhattisagrh, MP

March 7, 2017 11:17 AM | Skymet Weather Team

The last week of February along with initial days of March were very warm and dry for central parts of the country, particularly over the Vidarbha subdivision of Maharashtra, parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The temperatures remained above the normal levels in several areas of this region.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the absence of any significant weather system which failed to give any weather activity over the region.

However, weather conditions have witnessed a change. In fact, a drop in maximum temperatures have been registered in last 24 hours. This fall in temperatures can be credited to light rains that have occurred over parts of Chhattisgarh including Rajnandgaon and Jagdalpur.

The reason for these rain and thundershowers can be attributed to a trough which is extending from Lakshadweep region up to South Chhattisgarh across Interior Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Weatherman predicts the intensity of rains to increase over South Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and adjoining southeastern parts of Madhya Pradesh. These aforementioned areas are likely to receive scattered rain and thundershowers for next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, the weather is expected to clear up and dry weather will once again engulf the region.

With these ongoing rains, day temperatures are expected to witness a marginal drop, while minimums may settle on the higher side. The rise in night temperatures will be due to cloud cover over the region.
