The southern parts of the country have been reeling under warm and dry weather conditions. So much so that the temperatures were settling above the normal levels.

But, rain and thundershowers have once again made their way to the region. In fact, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh have recorded good spells of rain in last 24 hours.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Bangalore City recorded a whopping of 37 mm of rainfall, Bangalore Airport 39 mm, Minicoy 36 mm, Pamban 7 mm, Kottayam 3.2 mm, Cuddalore 0.8 mm and Alappuzha 0.5 mm of rains. Traces of rainfall was also witnessed in Dharmapuri, Kochi and Punalur.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to the presence of a trough that is extending from Southeast Arabian Sea up to Madhya Pradesh across Karnataka.

As per Skymet Weather, light rains will continue over Kerala, with isolated moderate spells in some parts. Likewise, Tamil Nadu will see light showers. The intensity of these rains will be more over interior parts than coastal districts.

Meanwhile, rain and thunder squalls are likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh. South interior Karnataka will also see light rains. The rain intensity will increase by March 10.
