Rains to continue over Tamil Nadu December 3 onward

December 1, 2018 3:34 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Subdued rainfall activity continued over most parts of Tamil Nadu during the last 24 hours. Rain and thundershower were observed mainly along the coast and Southern parts of the state. The day temperatures over the area have rose by 3 to 5 degrees, but have remained close to normal.

At present, the Trough of Low which was extending from Equator to western parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has moved westwards and is now extending from Equator to South Bay. The system is likely to move further westwards. As the system is quite far off from Tamil Nadu coast, the rainfall activities will reduce further over the state during the next 24 hours.

The coastal stations and the southern parts may receive scattered light rain and thundershower activities due to the systems. Rainfall will enhance as the fresh easterly wave is expected to arrive by 3 December. The rain activities will regain strength from evening of December 3 for the next few days. However, northern parts of Tamil Nadu and interior parts will remain mainly dry.

Northeasterly and easterly winds will continue over the region. Mostly pleasant morning and comfortable day conditions will prevail. The hilly areas over the state may observe isolated mist and fog during the morning mainly in the Nilgiri region.
