During the last 24 hours, most parts of Gujarat have received good rains. Moderate to heavy rains occurred over multiple places in Saurashtra and Kutch, particularly in Naliya, Okha, and Bhuj. While the Kutch region is battling flood-like situation.

At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Kutch and adjoining parts of South Sindh. Thus, we expect light to moderate rains to continue over the Kutch region.

Places like Mehsana, Patan, Sabarkantha, parts of Banaskantha, Surat, Valsad, Bhavnagar, Dang, Panchmahal will also continue to receive rain and thundershower activities till August 4. The intensity of rain will increase in the region August 2 onwards.

So, we can say that the first week of August is going to be good for the state of Gujarat. This is when the rainfall deficiency of Gujarat will come down by a good margin and the problem of water scarcity will ease out to some extent. It is expected that dams and other water reservoirs will be filled more than 50% of their capacity in view of this rainy spell.

Many areas in the state are still wholly dependent on rains for their water availability so a good spell of rain is always welcomed. It will also prove to be a boon for crops like groundnut.
