Rains to continue over Odisha for next 2 to 3 days

The eastern state Odisha has received moderate rains at many places during the last 24 hours. Moreover, heavy rains have also occurred at one or two places over Interior Odisha.

At present, a Low-Pressure Area is still persisting over Odisha. Now, the system is expected to move in westerly direction. Thus, rains may decrease in intensity. However, light to moderate rains will continue at many places for the next few days.

This Monsoon turned out to be very good for Odisha as successive Low-Pressure Areas developed either over North Bay of Bengal or Central Bay of Bengal and affected the state. Fortunately, there has been no development of any severe weather system over Odisha coast. Therefore, Odisha has been spared by flooding rains until now.

Instead of this, Odisha is still running rain deficient by 2% at present. We expect Odisha to become rain surplus in the coming days as on and off rains are expected to continue over the state for the next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, the rain intensity will decrease, and rains will become light in intensity.

We do not expect weather to go dry over Odisha as on and off rains will keep continuing over the state. The rains will benefit the soil moisture which in turn will help the upcoming Rabi crops.
