Rains to continue over North Bihar, flood like situation likely

The state of Bihar has witnessed one of the worst floods last month. So much so that over 250 people were killed and at least 1 crore people were affected. Chaos was created all across the state of Bihar and residents are still getting over the conditions.

Thereafter, rainfall activity did take a backseat over the state of Bihar and weather conditions did show some improvement. However, after a few days of relief, rains are expected to increase over the state of Bihar even further.

In fact, moderate to heavy rains have made an appearance and the last 24 hours were quite rainy for some parts of the state.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, a massive 92 mm of rains were witnessed by Purnea while Bhagalpur recorded a whopping 76.1 mm of rain. Other areas also witnessed some rains including Forbesganj at 28.6 mm with light rains over Gaya as well as Patna.

These rains can be attributed to the presence of multiple weather systems. One of these is a cyclonic circulation over Northeast Bihar and adjoining areas. Along with this, a trough is also extending from this system. Not only this, the axis of the Monsoon trough is also running close to the foothills of the Himalayas.

Thus, as per weathermen, moderate showers are expected over Bihar. Not only this, the possibility of isolated heavy rains also cannot be ruled out over these areas. Thus, northern parts of the state may witness flood like situation as well.
