A cyclonic circulation was persisting over Southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh, but recently the circulation has moved over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Vidarbha. Also, a trough is extending from Uttar Pradesh to Telangana across North Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh.
Due to the influence of these systems, light to moderate rain and thundershower activity with one or two heavy spells have already occurred over many parts of East Madhya Pradesh. The state of Chhattisgarh too has received scattered rains. While, Pendra Road in Chhattisgarh received 45 mm of rain, it was followed by Seoni in Madhya Pradesh with 29 mm rains. Hailstorm activities are also being reported in some parts of these states.
Now, we expect the rains to increase over parts of Chhattisgarh while continuing over East Madhya Pradesh for another 24 hours. These rains are likely to remain confined to Southern districts of Chhattisgarh such as Bastar, Bijapur, Dantewada and Sukma. Hailstorm activities are also possible over a few places.
Rains will fizzle out by January 28 and weather will become clear thereafter. Minimum temperatures are expected to fall January 28 onwards. Day temperatures too are expected to drop over East Madhya Pradesh as well as over Chhattisgarh during the next two days.
