Southwest Monsoon had ended on a rainy note for the entire state as well as for Kolkata. Besides this, the city has not seen an almost dry weather conditions and rains have continued. Since last few days, the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata has been recording a few spells of rains. In fact, the last 24 hours were no different and the state including Kolkata witnessed the same prevailing weather conditions.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, the City of Joy, Kolkata merely recorded 6 mm of rainfall. While the other districts of West Bengal have been witnessing good rainfall activities.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to an upper air cyclonic circulation which is seen persisting over North Bay of Bengal off Gangetic West Bengal Coast.

Due to this weather system, scattered light to moderate rain and thundershower activities are expected to continue over Kolkata and adjoining areas during the next 24 hours.

Further, as this cyclonic circulation is expected to move westwards, the intensity of these rains is likely to decrease marginally after 24 hours.

With this, the night temperatures will see a significant decrease in wake of this prevailing weather system over the city. While the day temperatures will rise marginally.

Accordingly, maximums are expected to remain around 32-34 degree Celsius. Whereas, the minimum temperatures will be settling around 25 degree Celsius mark.
