West Bengal including Kolkata has been continuously receiving on and off rains of varied intensity. The rains have made the weather pleasant across the state. As per Skymet Weather, the eastern arm of the axis of Monsoon trough is active and is moving across West Bengal from Bihar up to east central Bay of Bengal.

Due to this weather system, scattered rains were recorded over Gangetic plains. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, the city of joy received 24 mm of moderate intensity rain.
In the same time span, Asansol recorded 37.2 mm of rain, Bankura 22 mm and Sriniketan 17.2 mm of moderate intensity rains. Meanwhile, Burdwan witnessed 9 mm of light intensity rains, Darjeeling 7.5 mm, Diamond Harbour 7.5 mm, Midnapore 3.8 mm and Jalpaiguri 2.2 mm.

It is anticipated that these spells will continue for the next 24 hours. However, the rain intensity will reduce thereafter. Mainly light to moderate rains is expected to continue. Kolkata, South Parganas, Midnapore district will witness scattered moderate spells.
The remaining parts will witness mainly light intensity rains. Due to the rain over other parts of the country including Bihar, rivers and mainstreams have caused flooding across West Bengal as well. Due to continuous rains, there is no sign of improvement in the flooding conditions.
