During the last 24 hours, Kerala and Tamil Nadu have experienced light to moderate rains and thundershowers. These rains lashed many parts of Kerala, while Tamil Nadu has received rains at scattered places.
Presently, a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Comorin and adjoining areas at lower Tropospheric levels. Thus, ample moist winds are blowing over Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Hence, light to moderate rains and thundershowers would be continuing at many places over both the states.
The western and southern of Tamil Nadu might receive more rains as compared to Northeast parts of the state. These rain activities will be continuing during the next two to three days.
These rains will turn out quite beneficial for the agriculture sector in both the states. Ongoing crops like coconut, paddy, groundnut, cotton, sugarcane etc. are set to benefit. Also, the condition of ground water level might improve a bit over Tamil Nadu.
During this Monsoon season both the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala have received good amount of rains. So much so that both states are running rainfall surplus at present. As on September 28, Tamil Nadu has received 17% surplus rains, while Kerala received 13% excess rains.
