During the last 24 hours, the state of Gujarat as well as Saurashtra and Kutch have remained mostly dry. Although one or two places have received light rainfall while Northeast parts of Gujarat have received moderate rains at isolated places.
As per the available data, the city of Ahmedabad recorded 0.5 mm, Okha 0.2 mm and Porbandar received 0.5 mm of rains during the last 24 hours.
During the last one week or so a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Northeast Arabian Sea off Gujarat coast which has been a major contributor of rainfall activities over the state of Gujarat. Apart from this, a Low Pressure Area which is travelling across Central parts of the country has also enhanced the rain activities over Gujarat.
Presently, the above Cyclonic Circulation lies over Northeast Arabian sea. Also, the Low Pressure Area lies over Northwest parts of Madhya Pradesh.
Under these weather conditions the eastern parts of Gujarat are likely to witness light rains at many places. A few spells of moderate rains cannot be ruled out. Saurashtra and Kutch might also receive light rains are scattered places. These weather conditions are likely to continue during the next 2 to 3 days.
From September 18 onward, the rainfall activity is likely to decrease further over Kutch and adjoining parts of Saurashtra region as the above Cyclonic Circulation will be further weakening. The day temperatures will now slowly increase.
Talking about the rainfall figures, both the regions of Gujarat as well as Saurashtra and Kutch have received surplus amount of rainfall till now. As on September 14, while, Gujarat region is 22% rain surplus while Saurashtra and Kutch has received 43% excess rains.
