In the same span of time, Dhubri recorded moderate intensity rain to the tune of 28.1 mm, Kailashahar 25.6 mm meanwhile Cherrapunji, Shillong, and Goalpara recorded light intensity showers.

These rains can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is persisting over eastern parts of Bangladesh. The humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are increasing moisture over southern states of northeast India.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather moderate rains with a few heavy spells are likely to continue over Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, eastern parts of Assam and South Arunachal Pradesh. The hefty showers are likely to continue for the next 24 hours.

Thereafter the cyclonic circulation will weaken and rains will decrease significantly over the region. However scattered light rains will continue over the states for the next two to three days.

After two to three days the northeasterly winds will strengthen and the moisture feed will cut off leading to dry weather conditions across Northeast India. The weather will remain cloudy and pleasant during the next two days. The maximum and minimum temperatures will also reduce marginally.
