The daytime maximums were previously settling around 35-degrees Celsius at most of the locations and even surpassing the same at a few pockets in the state of Maharashtra. However, the maximums saw a declining trend due to the recent rain episode in the last 24 hours.
These rains gave a sigh of relief to the people of Maharashtra who were reeling under soaring mercury levels.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for these rains can be attributed to the feeble trough that is persisting over Konkan and Goa and adjoining regions. This trough is extending up to west central Arabian Sea where the low-pressure area is persisting.
In the wake of this, isolated light rains along with cloudy weather are expected to continue over both Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra regions for at least the next 24 hours.
This cloud cover and light spells would further drop the temperatures by a few notches. However, by March 17, the weather is expected to start clearing up thereby also leading to the rise in temperatures again.
Let’s see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra:
The expectations of cloudy weather and rain may damage the inflorescence of Mango and Cashew nut. Hence, farmers are advised to protect the inflorescence from the rainfall and cloudy weather.
Farmers are also suggested to store the harvested produce at a safe place in the event of rainfall & hailstorm. Also, timely irrigation of summer crops as required is also prescribed. Analyzation against pest infestation due to cloudy weather on vegetable crops is also recommended.
