Southwest Monsoon has been lashing the state of Bihar and Jharkhand from almost the last 3-4 days. In fact, during the last 24 hours also, both the states, specifically most parts of South Bihar and Jharkhand have whirled under light to moderate Monsoon spells in the last 24 hours as well.
Within the span of the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Daltonganj recorded 22 mm of rains, Muzaffarpur 15 mm, Purnea 14 mm, Supaul and Bhagalpur 9 mm each, Gaya 8 mm, and Ranchi witnessed 7 mm of rainfall.
As per Skymet Weather, light to moderate showers are expected to continue over both the regions for the next 24 hours. Skymet Weather reiterates that the axis of Monsoon trough is at present running along Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Moreover, a cyclonic circulation can also be marked over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas.

In the wake of this, light to moderate rains at many places over Bihar and at a few places over Jharkhand are likely to continue for the next 24 hours as well. Thereafter, rains will reduce over most parts of these states but due to the persistence of the cyclonic circulation over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, scattered rains will continue over the northeastern parts of Bihar for another 2 days.
Thus, the districts such as Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, and Bhagalpur may continue with few spells of rain and thundershowers for the next 2-3 days. While, Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Daltonganj districts of Jharkhand will witness light spells for the next 24 hours. Sky will remain partly cloudy to cloudy and not much rise in the temperature profile is expected.
