After a long wait, some rains finally appeared over parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. However, these rains remained confined to the eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh, mainly the foothills of the state and the adjoining stations of Bihar.

In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Friday, Forbesganj recorded 7.2 mm of rains, Gorakhpur recorded 7 mm of rains, Patna 1.8 mm and Supaul witnessed 1.1 mm of showers.

As per Skymet weather, a Western Disturbance as an upper air system is moving across East Tibet, which is northeast of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Moreover, a cyclonic circulation is also marked over Jharkhand, and a trough is extending from Central India to Northeast India.

As this system is expected to prevail, rain activity is likely to continue over both the regions for the next 24 hours as well. Short spell rain and thundershowers along with squally winds are likely to continue at some parts of Uttar Pradesh, mainly the stations lying towards the northeastern parts of the state over the regions like Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar and Gonda.

Many parts of Bihar such as Supaul, Araria, Purnea, Bhagalpur, and Samstipur would also continue to witness rain and thundershower activities. Isolated parts of Patna, Gaya, Nawada, and Begusarai may also stand a chance to witness these activities. Lightning strike may also be a chance over part of North Bihar.
