Many states of Southern Peninsula including Karnataka have witnessed warm and dry weather conditions all throughout February. So much that both day and night temperatures were settling above the normal.

As per Skymet Weather, on & off rain and thundershowers have been drenching Karnataka since past few days. Many parts of the state have received light to moderate showers, with few places recording heavy rainfall.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Bellary recorded hefty rainfall of 43 mm, while Raichur reported 30 mm and Gulbarga 21 mm of moderate showers. During the similar time frame, Gadag witnessed 7.5 mm and Madikeri 5 mm of light rains.

These rain and thundershowers activities over the region can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation over North Interior Karnataka and adjoining areas. A trough is also extending from this system up to Lakshadweep Islands.

In wake of these two weather systems, light to moderate showers, with isolated heavy rainfall have occurred over parts of Karnataka. Meteorologists at Skymet Weather expects that these rain and thundershowers to continue over parts of the state for next 24 hours. Thereafter, once again dry and clear weather will commence over Karnataka.

Besides this, day temperatures are likely to scale in most parts, however minimums will remain on the lower side.
