Monsoon made a delayed arrival over Rajasthan yesterday and with this, the countdown to record good rains had begun over the state. Although, on and off showers have been blessing the state of Rajasthan from the last many days but with the onset of Monsoon over Rajasthan, these rains will keep on pouring over the parts of the state.
From the last 48 hours, the southern regions of the state had been witnessing some good spells. In fact, a few districts of South Rajasthan even booked good rains on their names in the last 24 hours as well. Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, districts like Barmer recorded heavy showers of 49 mm, Jodhpur 44 mm, Jaisalmer 28 mm, Ajmer 10 mm, and Jaipur and Bikaner witnessed 7 mm of rainy traces each.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, these rains were due to a cyclonic circulation that is persisting over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining South Pakistan and Kutch region in Gujarat. Moreover, due to the effect of this weather system, few more good rainy spells are likely to occur over the parts of the state.

Normally, the districts in Southwest Rajasthan like Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Jodhpur receives a low amount of rains during the month of June. Moreover, the terrain of these regions is also such that water does not seep in. Therefore, chances of flooding become pretty common over the area which is quite the possibility for the region.
But as Barmer has been witnessing good rains from two consecutive days, these rains are likely to trigger an alarm for a flood-like situation to develop over the city.
Weather models are also indicating an increment in the rains over East and North Rajasthan. West Rajasthan is also expected to continue witnessing light to moderate rains for at least next two days. Though these rains will prove to be beneficial for the sowing of Gwar crop.
