Rain in Rajkot

At present, good rains are continuing over Gujarat. In the past 24 hours, the city of Surat received 32 mm of rains while Rajkot received very heavy rains. Many other districts of Gujarat region have also received good rainfall activities in the last few days.

At present a Trough is extending from Gujarat to North Bay of Bengal at mid-levels. We expect this system to persist for next few days. Moreover, a Low-Pressure Area which is going to develop over North Bay of Bengal will also move inland and its effect will be felt over Gujarat region between August 8 and 10.

Now, we expect these rains to continue with moderate to heavy intensity over Gujarat region for another 24 to 48 hours. Places such as Sabarkantha, Vanaskantha, Mehsana, Patan, Himmatnagar etc will also continue to receive good rains for another 24 hours.

Thereafter the intensity will go down. However, weather will not become absolutely dry and isolated spells will continue. The rain intensity will be more over Gujarat region in comparison to Kutch. However, northern districts of Gujarat will receive very less rains.

Another spell of rain is expected in Gujarat between August 8 and 10. During this time we expect heavy rains over Northeastern districts as well as Gujarat region. Parts of Kutch will also receive moderate rains with one or two heavy spells, leading to flood like situation over Kutch region. So, we can say that the first ten days of August are going to be very good in terms of rain activities.

The water scarcity which was there particularly over Kutch region of Gujarat has now eased down due the good rains. All the water bodies are almost full to their capacity.
