The month of July is turning out to be good in terms of rains. Yesterday, the national capital of Delhi recorded good rainfall over multiple areas. While Safdarjung recorded 21.6 mm, Palam observatory received 16.8 mm of rains. The city had recorded good rains in the first week of July as well.
The reason for the recent rains can be attributed to a Monsoon Trough passing close to the foothills of Himalayas. The Trough has been oscillating in close proximity of Delhi ever since. This Trough is now expected to shift further Southwards while persisting for another 48 hours.
Similar weather is likely to prevail further for another 48 hours. Moderate showers are likely to continue over the region.
The rains might ease out a little after 24 hours, however light rains will continue day after tomorrow as well.
The day temperatures might fall further in the next some days and will be recorded close to low 30s. Both day and night temperatures might fall by about a degree or two. Persistent clouding will be witnessed. Also, pollution levels are expected to ease out a little after the rains. Morning and nights will remain pleasant.
After the rainy spell, a dry spell is being forecast over the region which will prevail for at least the next three days before any other weather system affects yet again.
At present easterly winds have been blowing over the region. The winds will soon change direction to Northwesterly while leading to an increase in temperatures once again.
