During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Udhagamandalam recorded a good 19 mm of rainfall, Tuticorin 7 mm, Coimbatore recorded 3.2 mm of rains, Coonoor 3.2 mm, Kodaikanal 1.2 mm, Kanyakumari 0.2 mm, Nagapattinam 1.8 mm, Palayamkottai 2.2 mm, Pamban 0.9 mm, and Vellore 0.2 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the upper air trough extending from extreme Southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast to South Andhra Pradesh coast across Tamil Nadu coast.

Now, this system is expected to move in a westward direction gradually. Thus, the weather of Tamil Nadu will again be affected in the form of rain and thundershowers.

Light rains are expected over parts of west Tamil Nadu with a few moderate spells during the next 24 to 36 hours. Thereafter, rain activity will reduce which will result in the day temperatures with night temperatures decreasing marginally.

Thus, during this time, cities of Coonoor, Udhagamandalam, Dharmapuri, Salem, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Kodaikanal, Kannyakumari, Tuticorin are expected to witness some rains.
