As per Skymet Weather, on and off weather systems are developing over central and western parts of the country which are prompting the winds to change their directions. At present, easterly and southeasterly winds are blowing over the state.
Due to these humid winds, the moisture contents have increased over Odisha and adjoining states. This moisture content has been responsible for cloud formation and thus scattered rains occurred over many parts of the state.
This is a common weather phenomenon during Nor'wester or locally called ‘Kal Baisakhi’ that is a common phenomenon for East India as it originates from Bihar and Jharkhand, moves eastwards and strikes West Bengal and Odisha.

So far, the month of April has given a good amount of rains for Odisha. The state has been receiving on and off pre-Monsoon showers accompanied with lightning and thunderstorms for the last couple of days.

Moreover, as of now also, on and off pre-Monsoon showers along with gusty winds and thundershowers are expected to continue over most parts of Odisha for the next 24-48 hours. These rains would mainly remain confined to the coastal parts of the state. The regions like Bhubaneswar, Puri, Bhadrak, Cuttack, and Balasore may get to witness these rains.
However, these rains would not be much of a benefit in curtailing the temperatures as these are pre-Monsoon rains that peak up during the afternoon hours and by that time, the temperatures have already been registered. But come what may, they may offer a short-term relief.
