Apart from Northeast India, almost the entire country is reeling under hot weather conditions. Temperatures are rising up in most parts of the country with heatwave conditions prevailing in parts of West and Central India.

But, states like Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are observing moderate to heavy rains all through March and April. And as of now, the northeastern parts of the country will be witnessing moderate rain and thundershower activities from April 19.

Around April 21 to 23, we expect heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Such weather conditions over these states are expected to continue until April 26.

As per Skymet Weather, the reasons for these heavy rains can be attributed to the moderate winds coming from the Bay of Bengal. We expect a Cyclonic Circulation to form and persist over northern parts of West Bengal and adjoining areas. Moreover, moisture incursion is prevailing over the entire northeastern states. A trough is also seen extending from this system towards Bangladesh.

As of now, heavy to extremely heavy rain spells, at one or two places is expected over the region, especially over Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh in the next 48 hours. Thereafter, the rain intensity will reduce over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

However, Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will continue with moderate to heavy rains for another 24-48 hours. These rains may cause flooding and water logging at many parts.
