Rains to appear over Mumbai by May end; to continue until Monsoon arrives

Mumbai weather has remained hot and dry for quite some time now. Rain gods seem to have been ignoring the city for a long time now. The city remained dry for about seven long months and then rains finally showed up on May 13.

These rains continued for about two days, thereafter taking a backseat once again. Since then, the city of Mumbai has remained as dry as a bone. In fact, the next two to three days are also likely to remain the same with the weather remaining hot and rains staying out of sight.

However, around May 31, there are some chances of rainfall activity over the maximum city. In fact, thereafter, Pre-Monsoon activities will continue to appear over the city of dreams until Monsoon 2017 makes an appearance over the city.

These rains will be attributed to the movement of the cyclonic circulation over Arabian Sea on the northerly direction closer to the Konkan and Goa region. Not only this, the wind direction will also change and westerly southwesterly winds will begin to blow over the region.

With this, Pre-Monsoon activity is expected to begin over Mumbai and its adjoining areas by May end and will continue during the first week of June as well. These rains will not be a continuous affair, but on and off showers will persist over the region.

Southwest Monsoon usually makes an onset over Mumbai after June 10. Mumbaikars wait for those droplets of Monsoon rains all throughout the year.
