Rains return to Assam, Arunachal, Nagaland, on and off showers to continue

After remaining dry for long, rain and thundershowers returned to the northeastern parts of the country. All thanks to the passage of Western Disturbance along the Himalayas.

Rains of varying intensity occurred over many parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and over few parts of Meghalaya and Nagaland. More showers are likely over all these places today as well. With the system moving away weather would clear up after the next 24 hours. However, remnants of Western Disturbance may give isolated showers over few places.

As the rains take backseat, day temperatures would also start rising by 2-3 degrees, with partly cloudy sky. However, this break would a be a brief one as rains would make a comeback by February 17.

According to Skymet Weather, another Western Disturbance would start affecting the northeastern region around February 17.

During this time, light to moderate rains are likely to occur over many parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Intensity is likely to peak on February 18. These on and off rains would continue till February 19.

The intensity of the rains would be less In Nagaland as compared to other states. In Nagaland, rains will again be concentrating over the northern parts of the state.

Meanwhile, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura would remain unaffected and would continue with dry weather conditions.
