For the past few days, most of Maharashtra including its dazzling capital, Mumbai had been recording vigorous Monsoon conditions. However, heavy rainfall activity did take a backseat in the past 24 hours.

During the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained active giving light to moderate showers over Konkan and Goa region, Vidarbha and North Madhya Maharashtra. Remaining parts of Maharashtra witnessed normal Monsoon conditions resulting in light showers.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Dahanu recorded rains to the tune of 32 mm, Harnai 27 mm, Bhira 22 mm, Alibag 20 mm, Akola 16 mm, Ratnagiri 16 mm, Mahabaleshwar 10 mm, Nashik 10 mm, Kolhapur 9 m, Thane 6 mm and Nagpur 4 mm.

In the last 24 hours, the Santacruz Observatory in Mumbai recorded rainfall to the tune of 14 mm, whereas Colaba Observatory witnessed 18 mm.

The prevailing weather conditions can be attributed to the low pressure area which has now moved away towards Gujarat and adjoining areas. Along with this, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and further towards east central Bay of Bengal. Thus, the rainfall activity is likely to reduce more.
