The northwesterly dry winds are persisting over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh as well as adjoining Rajasthan. As a result, dry weather conditions are continuing over these areas since the last many days.
Moreover, drop in day and night temperatures has also been observed in the last 24 hours. Amritsar recorded minimum temperature at 5.6℃ over Amritsar, while 7.8℃ was recorded in Delhi.
Meanwhile, moderate fog was seen over parts of Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi on Saturday morning. This fog had reduced visibility up to 500 meters over Palam Observatory in the national capital.
At present, a Western Disturbance as an upper air system is present over North Pakistan and adjoining areas. Further, an induced Cyclonic Circulation has also formed over South Pakistan and adjoining West Rajasthan.
These present systems are expected to bring a change in wind pattern by December 9 for the next few days. North -westerlies are likely to get replaced by easterly moist winds thereby resulting in minimums to rise gradually over northwestern plains of the country.
This pattern will also lead to clouding over the areas of Rajasthan, Punjab as well as over rest parts of northwestern plains. As the induced cyclonic circulation moves further towards northeast directions ,rains and thundershower activities may take place over many parts of Punjab, extreme West and North Rajasthan as well as over adjoining parts of Haryana around December 10.
Moreover, shallow to moderate fog is expected to form over many places of Northwest India. Further, pollution in Delhi will show an increase by December 9 and 10 onward as chances of rain over the city are very bleak.
