As per Skymet Weather, the cyclonic circulation is still persisting over South Gujarat. In addition to this, the offshore trough is also extending from Maharashtra to coastal Kerala. Thus, moderate to heavy rains are likely over South Konkan, meanwhile, North Konkan would receive mainly light rains.
Along with this, a fresh low-pressure area has formed over Odisha and West Bengal. This weather system is likely to move in a westerly direction towards Madhya Pradesh. In the wake of this, parts of Vidarbha may record few moderate spells in the next 24 hours. Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are expected to witness almost dry weather with only isolated showers.
After 24 hours, by July 22, heavy to very heavy may occur over Vidarbha with one or two places of Madhya Maharashtra as well. The rain intensity would also pick up the pace over Konkan region but Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada would continue to get light showers only.
At this stage, let us see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Maharashtra:
