Rain and thunder shower activities are going on over many parts of Tamil Nadu, South India Karnataka, and parts of Kerala during after two to three days. With the setting up of Northeast monsoon, rain activities may intensify further over Tamil Nadu. Coastal Andhra Pradesh may also start receiving moderate to heavy showers.

During last 24 hours, Kakinada recorded 95mm, Kodaikanal 49, Punalur in Kerala 75 and Bengaluru recorded 42 mm of rain. Usually, southwest monsoon withdrawal by October 15th and Northeast monsoon sets in any time after October 15.

Withdrawal of Southwest monsoon is a delayed significantly in 2021. Onset of Southwest Monsoon is also delayed due to development of successive weather systems over Bay of Bengal. Cyclonic circulation and low-pressure areas did not allow North easterly winds to set in. Which is an essential criteria for Northeast monsoon. As of now there is no significant weather system in Bay of Bengal which would obstruct the flow of north easterly winds.
