However, weather conditions took a U-turn and as reiterated by Skymet Weather, light rains were observed over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the last 24 hours.
These rains could be attributed to the cyclonic circulation that is prevailing over Bangladesh and neighborhood and a trough that extends from this weather system up to Northeast India.

Further, rains are predicted to continue and intensify over northeastern states during the next 24 hours. Light rain with moderate falls are anticipated to affect the region.
With the persistence of cloud cover, day temperatures will fall by 3 to 5 degrees over the mentioned states.
By January 4, the above mentioned weather systems are expected to dissipate, thus the weather will go dry over most of these states. Maximum temperatures will again start rising and the sky would become clear.
It is predicted that moderate fog would prevail during the morning hours over parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
