Pre-Monsoon rains have made an appearance over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during the month of April on a few occasions. Otherwise, the weather across both these states mostly remained dry. Thus, due to the prolonged dry spell temperatures were seen rising and heatwave conditions were also witnessed by few pockets of Madhya Pradesh.

However, rains finally made an appearance and since yesterday both the states have been receiving good pre-Monsoon rains.

Northeast Madhya Pradesh particularly received moderate to heavy shower which occurred due to the trough extending from Rajasthan to Northeast India across South Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Northeast Madhya Pradesh.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Rewa received good rainfall activity to the tune of 42 mm followed by Gwalior 11.1 mm, Khajuraho 2.6 mm, Pachmarhi and Ambikapur 0.3 mm, Satna 21.6 mm, Bilaspur 8.9 mm, Durg and Pendra 0.8 mm, Jagdalpur 14.8 mm,

Currently, also a trough is seen persisting from Rajasthan to Northeast India across South Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Northeast Madhya Pradesh along with this another trough is running from Bihar to South India across Chhattisgarh.

Therefore, we expect moderate to heavy showers mostly over the southern districts such as Jagdalpur, Bijapur, Bastar, Sukma and Narayanpur.

Eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh may also receive scattered rain and thundershowers, but the intensity of rain will be less in these areas. Temperatures are expected to drop and may become below normal.

Thus, on and off rains are expected to continue for next 24 hours over both the states, thereafter weather activities will reduce and ultimately after 48 hours temperatures will also start rising.
