Northeast India is receiving on and off rain and thundershower activity since many days. However, these rains are confined to northern parts including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland. Moreover, parts of Meghalaya also recorded few spells of rain during the past day.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, Pasighat recorded rain to the tune of 13 mm, Guwahati 8 mm, North Lakhimpur 5 mm, Gangtok 4 mm, Kohima 2 mm, Siliguri 1 mm and Majbat 0.6 mm rain.
As per Skymet Weather, successive Western Disturbances are affecting the Western Himalayas. These Western Disturbances usually travel along the foothills of the Himalayas towards the northeastern states.
Therefore, the foothills and hills of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh get maximum impact in terms of rain and thundershower activity.
Meanwhile, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura usually do not get affected by these weather systems. Now a fresh Western Disturbances is passing through Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. In wake of this weather system, we expect light to moderate rain activity to continue over East Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland for another 24 hours. Thereafter, the weather will become dry.
As per Skymet Weather, another Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Northeast around March 12. Hence, during that time we expect rain over the hilly states of the region.
