Rains likely over Punjab and Haryana, Winters to set in soon

November 24, 2019 12:14 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Since the last few days, dry weather conditions are prevailing over the Northwestern states of Punjab and Haryana due to the absence of any significant weather system.

Now, however, a fresh Western Disturbance has formed over Jammu and Kashmir. It has induced a Cyclonic Circulation over Haryana. Thus, we expect isolated light to very light rainfall activities over parts of Punjab and Haryana by tomorrow.

According to the weathermen, we expect these rains to pick up even more intensity on November 26 and 27. During this time, scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells are likely over Punjab and Haryana.

These rainfall activities will bring down the day temperatures over both the states. However, night temperatures might increase by a couple of degrees. By November 28, this weather system is likely to fade away and weather over Punjab and Haryana will become clear.

On November 28, northerly northwesterly winds from the western Himalayas will commence over both the states leading to a dip in day and night temperatures. Moreover, moderate to dense fog is also very likely in many parts over Punjab and Haryana which may reduce the visibility over both the states.

The successive Western Disturbances will continue to reduce the temperatures. We expect Winters to set in over Punjab and Haryana from November 28.
