Since last one week, weather of Punjab and Haryana is mostly dry, but isolated dust storm and thunderstorm did appear on a few occasions which made the weather go on to become pleasant.
Due to the dry spell, the temperatures were rising and many parts of Haryana and some parts of Punjab have recorded temperatures above 40°C. Amristsar recorded 42°C maximum day temperature, Ludhiana 40.2°C, Chandigarh 40.1°C. While, isolated pockets of Haryana experienced heatwave like conditions also.
Now, a significant trough has developed over Punjab and is extending up to East India. Due to this, scattered thundershower activities is likely to commence over parts of Punjab.

We expect that during next 48 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities with occasional strong winds will occur over many parts of Punjab along with parts of Haryana.

On account of these pre-Monsoon showers, the maximums are expected to subside and the weather will become comfortable. Thereafter, there will be a dip in the rain activities but isolated dust storm or thunderstorm will continue leading to increasing in temperatures once again.
We expect that around June 20, rains will once again pick up the pace and isolated pockets of Punjab and Haryana may experience few moderate spells also.
Monsoon normally reaches at the end of June in both these northern states and this year also it is anticipated to be on time over both Punjab and Haryana.
