Rains likely over Itanagar, Haflong, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Kohima

Northeast Indian states along with parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim have been witnessing rainy weather for quite some time. While rains were absent from the Sikkim region, they did make an appearance during the last day.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Kalimpong recorded a good 20 mm of rainfall followed by Barapani where 4 mm rain was received. Other areas to have seen light rains include Pet Jorhat 3 mm, Dibrugarh 2 mm, Golaghat 1 mm, and North Lakhimpur.

These rainfall activities have been attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is over Bangladesh and adjoining Meghalaya. Along with this, a trough is extending from Sub Himalayan West Bengal up to Arunachal Pradesh across the persisting cyclonic circulation.

After last 24 hours witnessing rains, the coming two days are also expected to witness similar weather conditions. Moreover, areas of Meghalaya, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and some parts of Assam are likely to see rainfall activities.

Thus, the cities of Itanagar, Haflong, Pasighat, Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Guwahati, Kohima, Gangtok are likely to see some rainfall activity. Due to these rainfall activities, there may be some slight drop in the prevailing temperatures over the region.
