For instance, yesterday, Parbhani recorded the day temperature at 38.4°C, Akola 38°C, Gondia 37.5°C and Wardha 37°C.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, scattered clouds were also seen over Vidarbha region while rains did remain absent from the region. Meanwhile, the sky remained clear over Marathwada.

On the other hand, the weather is expected to remain dry over Vidarbha and Marathwada with occasional cloud cover. Furthermore, there are possibilities of light rain and thundershowers over Vidarbha between March 9 and 10.

With these upcoming rains, marginal relief is expected from the prevalent scorching weather conditions that have been wreaking havoc among the residents.

However, this relief would be short-lived, as the mercury levels are anticipated to start mounting once again after the episode of rain. During the same period, cities of Marathwada region like Beed, Osamabad, Hingoli and Latur would witness partly cloudy to cloudy sky conditions; however, the weather will continue to be hot and dry with rains remaining on the backseat.

At this juncture, let’s have a look at the impact of the weather on agriculture:

Farmers are advised to irrigate summer crops (Groundnut & Vegetables) and also provide irrigation to Pomegranate as well as 6 to 9-month-old orchards of Orange, Pomegranate, Mango, Guava and Sweet Lime.

Furthermore, they should mulch the plants to avoid moisture loss. They must complete harvesting the Rabi crops and matured Orange, Sweet Lime, Pomegranate and Grapes.
