Rains Lash Parts Of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh: More Showers Likely And Reach Maharashtra

Trough extending from Southwest Uttar Pradesh to North Gujarat, across West Madhya Pradesh has triggered scattered rains.  East Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh and parts of Uttar Pradesh were lashed with light to moderate showers. More rains are likely, with similar intensity and spread. Winter showers may also extend reach and cover parts of Maharashtra, as well.

The convergence of winds on account of an anticyclone over the central region and northerly stream down the slopes from the plains of north India has caused decent showers at a few places. While places like Kota and Gwalior registered moderate showers with rainfall of 20mm and 23mm respectively, light rains were recorded at Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Dholpur, Aligarh, Bareilly, Hardoi and Kanpur. Light rains were also witnessed over Parts of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra.  Ratnagiri, Mahabaleshwar, Pune, Sholapur and Satara measured fleeting showers.

The resultant trough will persist with a slight southward shift dragging the rainfall belt, along with.  Unseasonal rains are likely over some parts of Southwest Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra. From Madhya Pradesh, these showers will intrude more into West Uttar Pradesh causing a truant wet spell, with a bigger spread. Rains are expected over Ujjain, Indore, Dhar, and Khargone region and cross over to Uttar Pradesh covering Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Etah, Badaun, Hathras, Firozabad and Bareilly.  Rains will cease and weather conditions will improve tomorrow over these parts. However, Maharashtra rains will take one more day and recede only a day later. Likely places in Maharashtra to receive unseasonal but welcome rains will be Dahanu, Ratnagiri, Mahabaleshwar, Jalgaon, Nasik, Pune, Ahmednagar, Dhule, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Kolhapur, Sholapur, Sangli, Satara and neighbourhood.

A broad and general clearance is anticipated over the entire region from 11th January onwards. A clear sky with a fair amount of sunshine is likely for the subsequent one week or even more. Parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh will remain susceptible to fog formation during late night and morning hours. The cessation of wet spells could be followed by a drop in the minimum temperatures over the region.
