After lashing northern plains of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi, the rain belt has now shifted to Uttar Pradesh. Rain bearing clouds have been hovering over most parts of the state since the early hours of Friday morning.
In fact, places like Lucknow, Bareilly, Fursatganj, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Allahabad and Kanpur have already started witnessing rain and thundershowers.
According to Skymet Weather, the cyclonic circulation which was earlier over Rajasthan and Punjab has now shifted and is presently over West Uttar Pradesh. Moreover, the trough is extending from this system up to Bihar.
Both the systems coupled together have made the weather conditions conducive for rain and thundershowers over Uttar Pradesh. Weathermen predict fairly widespread light to moderate rains are likely to lash over most parts of the state throughout Friday. Few places could also record isolated heavy rains.
One or two spell of hailstorm over one or two places also cannot be ruled out during this time.
The ongoing rainy spell is likely to continue for 24 to 48 hours with cloudy sky conditions. However, on Saturday, intensity of rain will reduce over West Uttar Pradesh but it will continue over parts of East Uttar Pradesh. This will be due to the movement of the cyclonic circulation in east direction towards Bihar.
