Rains lash Kolkata for 3rd consecutive day, to intensify further

Rain in KolkataRains and thundershowers continue to lash Kolkata for the third consecutive day on Saturday. In fact, the city has been witnessing incessant showers since 7 pm on Friday.

However, intensity of rains has been varying from light to moderate, with few places recording heavy showers as well. In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Kolkata recorded 14 mm of rain.

According to Skymet Weather, the depression over west-central Bay of Bengal about 470 km south-southwest of Kolkata, 210 km southeast of Paradip and 480 km south­southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh).

Further the system will continue moving in northeast direction at a fast pace. With this, we can expect rain activity to increase and moderate to heavy showers are likely to lash several areas of Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata during the next 24 hours.

Rains are likely to start reducing from the evening of November 6 as the system will move away towards Bangladesh.

The city has already surpassed its monthly average rainfall that stands at 30 mm. So far, the city has recorded 57 mm of rain. With the more rain in offing, weathermen predict that city of joy is likely to record 3 times more rainfall this month.
