As anticipated by Skymet Weather, many parts of Kerala have recorded light to moderate rain and thundershowers during the past 24 hours. In fact, heavy rainfall also lashed isolated places of the state.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Kochi recorded whopping 87 mm of rains, followed by Kottayam 27 mm, Punalur 26 mm, Alappuzha 25 mm, Palakkad 25 mm and Thiruvananthapuram 9 mm.

These showers were in the wake of two weather systems, one, a cyclonic circulation over Comorin region and the other, a trough which was extending from Madhya Maharashtra up to Interior Tamil Nadu across South Interior Karnataka.

Now, the latter weather system, the trough has become insignificant, however the cyclonic circulation is still in effect.

Hence, Skymet Weather forecast light to moderate rains to continue over few parts of Kerala during the next 24 hours. Afterward, showers will take a back seat over the region, paving way for dry weather to set in.

The sky will remain partly cloudy, with warm and humid days. Temperatures are likely to settle in low 30s to mid-30s. So, by December 16, we can expect the weather of Kerala to become dry, nevertheless isolated light rains cannot be ruled out.
