Many parts of Rajasthan have received light to moderate rains and thundershower activities during the last 24 hours. Places like Churu, Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Barmer and Ajmer received scattered rains and thundershower activities. Looking at the data, while Churu received 12 mm rains, Pilani recorded 3 mm, Jaipur 2 mm, Ajmer 3 mm and Barmer recorded 3 mm rains during the last 24 hours.

These rains are being observed under the influence of a Western Disturbance over Himalayas. It has induced a Cyclonic Circulation over the plains.

Now, we expect these rains to continue today as well over the northern and northwestern parts of Rajasthan. Thereafter, the intensity will decrease as the Western Disturbance will move towards East. The Cyclonic Circulation which is over western parts of Rajasthan will also move eastwards leading to decrease in rain activities. However, isolated rains may continue over the northern districts such as Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar.

As a matter of fact, rain activities usually reduce over Rajasthan during the month of March. The intensity of Western Disturbance also reduces. Its only on rare occasions that a strong Western Disturbance approaches Western Himalayas which induces a Cyclonic Circulation over Rajasthan. These rains mostly affect the northern districts.
