Rains in Uttar Pradesh to continue until weekend, good rains in Varanasi, Allahabad today

More than half of Monsoon season has come to an end and Uttar Pradesh continues to be on the deficient side. While eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh continue to remain deficient by a good 12 percent. West Uttar Pradesh is currently observing a deficiency of 29 percent.

During the last 24 hours, moderate showers have made an appearance over western parts of the state whereas Southeast Uttar Pradesh including Varanasi, Fatehpur have also seen moderate rains.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Kanour saw 20 mm of rains, hardoi 16 mm, Meerut 11 mm, Shahjahanpur 12 mm, Najibabad 4 mm, and Fatehpur 7 mm.

In the coming days as well, significant increase in rainfall activities is not likely. However, southern parts of the state including Sultanpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Fathepur, Kanpur, Hamirpur may see moderate rains today.

Meanwhile, western parts of the state will continue to see patchy rains during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, between August 16 and 18, rains in western parts of the state will once again see an increase, but rains will be on the moderate side only. Foothills of the state including Gorakhpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich may also see some rainfall activities.

Heavy to very heavy rains will not be seen but rainy days in the form of scattered patchy rains will be seen. However, these showers will be unable to bring down the deficient figures.
